The Story of My Great-Great-Grandfather
While I enjoy reading stories in many forms, there’s nothing quite like a biography.

Munger described reading biographies as gathering wisdom from the “eminent dead”. Not only is it entertaining but also enlightening. You get to glean first-hand experience without having to go through the tribulations.

My Level-Up Strategy for the Video Game of Life
A friend told me recently, “a vision without a plan is a hallucination.” I like that. It got me thinking.

I’ve spent a lot of time in my life fighting a quiet friction. An internal tug of war. A pendulum that swings back and forth.

On one side is the Creative. The flow state. The lifeblood of joy.

Getting To Know My Inner Voice
We all have an inner voice. Our personal narrator laying out our story for us, moment by moment. Our one-of-one internal radio announcer, reciting the day’s events.

I call mine Mr. Story Teller.

It’s a strange thought – that I’m walking around all day with this voice in my head.

My Journey with CBT – Part 1
There was a period in my life when I felt really low. My thoughts turned negative more than positive, which wasn’t my norm. I had trouble falling asleep and would stare at the ceiling for hours at night, my mind wondering. I felt tired. I was in my mid-30s.

It was the first time in my life that I developed a pattern of emotional lull that I couldn’t work myself out of.

Building a business is like climbing a mountain.
The journey of life, the same.

Your trail winds around, up and down over ridge lines, through the valleys.

There are overlooks where you stop and view where you came from, and where you’re going.

My thoughts? In a word: WOW.
Over the last few years, I did a complete overhaul of my personal organizational system.

I reorganized my calendar and how I manage my time.

I created checklists for everything.

My Dad’s Singular Advice
My dad and I didn’t have the type of relationship where he would give me a lot of advice. It just wasn’t like that.

If I asked him about something, he’d opine. But generally he kept his thoughts to himself and let me learn things on my own.

Unleashing New Superpowers After Law School
After I took the bar exam, I needed to sort out how I wanted to start my professional life. Instead of going the traditional route and working for a law firm, I decided to go into business. I took a few months off to find the right opportunity. I traveled a lot between DC (law school) and NYC (opportunity).

In hindsight, this was a much needed break and a great time for me to take a pause.

Human Tendencies That Befall Us All
Those who know me well know that I’m a huge Charlie Munger fan. I first learned about Charlie when one of his law partners spoke at my law school graduation ceremony. He quickly became someone I refer to as a “personal hero,” a description I use sparingly.
I heard Charlie say in an interview once that he had busts of only two people in his house in California: Benjamin Franklin and Lee Kwan Yu.

The Only Three Ways to Make Money
I spent the formative years of my upbringing near the coast of South Carolina, in an area known as the “Lowcountry”. It’s a natural landscape of low-lying swamps, creeks, rivers, and islands – with the ocean nearby. Oak trees, some of which are centuries old, line the backroads. The breeze tangles with “Spanish moss” hanging down from the branches. The area is majestic and has its own vibe.
